Hi Sayury,
I suggest that you borrow a copy of 'What Color is Your Parachute' from your local library to help you with your Job Search. It is written by Nelson Bolles and is a Job Search and Career Change bible.

You will also find books about Resumes and Cover Letters. If you go to Google and Type:

2) Questions to ask at a Job Interview are equally important and you should always have 3 or 4 prepared questions to ask at the end of a job interview.

I'm at college so I have limited resources. I got a beige and black long sleeve dress shirt with matching ties. Black dress pants and shoes. I am not sure if this is overdressing though? I know the rule of thumb is to dress one level better so I am not to sure about this. Please some advice. Thanks.

Sounds like you dress just fine. Polo shirt would work to. Khakis work to with dress shoes. And nice belt works too. But what you mention sounds just fine. But if you have cologne don't over do it. Some colognes just stink or to overbearing. Good luck.

      • Sounds cliched, to me.

Also, I'm anti-thank you note. As you commented in your sentences above, it's mutually beneficial. They have work that needs to be done and you're capable of the work. Everyone wins, no thank yous necessary.

If you insist on the obsequious, try something like, "I just wanted to write and say how much I enjoyed talking with you on Monday. If there is anything else you need from me please don't hesitate to ask."

      Recommended Answer:
      Heather,

This is a great question. What you have to understand is that a person will judge you beyond your physical looks, but by how you present yourself by dress, demeanor, and speech.

It's always to be overdressed then under and due to your age (since you graduated from college) you should be present yourself as professional as possible.

A suit will be great but make sure that it's something you can see yourself in the mirror and think "wow, that'll impress them." I conservative dress (length) will be fine.

Most importantly go in there with confidence. For you already preparing your outfit I know you have a level mind on knowing what is right. Now try to research and Q&A any possible questions that they may throw at you.

I hope this helps. Good Luck.
