Job Interview Questions: I have a job interview for a nanny job tomorrow....?

I really want this job. It is not only to take care of kids but to assist their mother with things such as paying bills and running errands. Aside from talking about my experience with kids, my being CPR and First Aid Certified, and my clean record, can anyone offer me any tips to possibly help with me getting this job? It's good paying and I'm really looking forward to my interview!

Job Interviewing Skills: Making The Small Differences Count!

Recommended Answer:
Try to hit it off with the mom. She doesn't want someone she doesn't get along with around her kids and acting as her personal assistant. You sound friendly, so play that up. Professional is good in terms of being reliable, but you also need to show a warmer, more emotional side that will help you connect with the kids. You're being hired to be an assistant mother. Act maternal.

Job Interview Skills: Upgrade Your Performance!

  • Talk about your hobbies, especially ones in which you could include the children. For instance, tell them you enjoy going to the beach or park to play ball, or that you take frequent trips to the library. If your hobbies are limited to watching TV and playing video games, I'd omit that. Good luck!

  • If you have a previous positive work history I would talk about that and what your long term life goals are, show you have ambition

  • Take references with you- preferrably not from family members- that you've worked for.
Dress professionally. You don't need a business suit, but you don't want to show up in jeans and a t shirt either. Be conservative in your dress.
Be upfront and honest in answering questions.
Be positive and if the kids are there greet them. Ask their names and show interest.

Job Interview Questions: Help me with my job interview?

Ok so I have an interview later today at a grocery store for carts/bagging, but I suck at interviews. What should I wear? I already went in this morning in a plain shirt and jeans. Should I go back wearing the same thing or change into nicer clothes? What are some good questions to ask for this particular type of job?

I need your tips/advice!

Thanks!

This may be too late but...

This doesn't help specifically with this particular job but this could help with interviews in general:

GCFLearnFree.org has free tutorials on how to prepare for an interview: www.gcflearnfree.org/interviewski… It includes instructional text, informational graphics, examples, and even interactives for you to practice what you've learned/actually apply what you've learned. There is information about what questions are normally asked in interviews and what to wear to an interview.

If you need additional help for things like writing a cover letter or resume or job searching, there are tutorials for that as well: www.gcflearnfree.org/career

Hope it helps and Good Luck!

Job Interview Techniques to Land Your Dream Job

  • That was my part-time job back in high school! You can wear something casual to make sure that you fit into the work environment. A nice polo shirt and khakis or dark jeans will do. You can ask about promotion opportunities and how long that might be before you are considered. Where I use to work, you started out as a bagger and then got promoted to cashier which paid a bit more. Ask about the job details. As a bagger, you might be doing more than getting carts and bagging, you might assist with some maintenace like cleaning up spills, or putting away returned goods. Good luck!

Job Interview Questions: How do I explain unemployment gaps in a job interview?

I plan on saying "i was very selective, and not looking for a job but rather a career." Any thoughts?

Appearance Matters in Job Interviewing

Recommended Answer:
If that's the reason, the jobs you had (between gaps) were 'career' jobs, and no contradictory information will turn up on a background search, that could work.

Job Interview Questions: How can I answer a question about my felony conviction in a job interview?

This question always comes up - either in the interview, or on the application. Answering the question always keeps me from getting the job. But, I want to be honest so that if the company hires me, they can't fire me later by saying that I lied to them. What is the best way to answer this question without jeopardizing my chance to get the job?

    10 Biggest Job Interviewing Mistakes

    Recommended Answer:
If it comes up let them know your moved on something along the lines of,

"I was convicted of -xxx- , and have fulfilled my obligations to the Court/Society/etc. I know that crime is wrong, and I also know that I have to try harder, and be better than the average person. I am ready to do this."

There are employers sadly who will just who without exception won't give you the job due to the felony, that's just something you have to swallow.

Good luck on finding a Job and rejoining Society

Job Interviews Questions - To Ask Or Not to Ask

    • At the risk of sounding cliche, it's not what you say but how you say it.
Make sure you first present your qualities. That way you'll be a good guy with a past conviction and not a bad guy with some qualities.
Then be careful what words you use. For example, the army does this all the time in the media, replacing
"our soldiers killing other soldiers of ours" with "friendly fire" or "strong bomb" with "daisy cutter".
Just write the statement "I was convicted for..." and underline the problem words and see what you can replace them with.

    • Put yourself in their shoes and try to imagine, if you were them, what could be said to ease concerns. Don't ramble on, or get lost in the details. But give them a strong sense that this is in your past and you are a changed person.

One way to avoid uncomfortable situations here is to include the information on any application. That way when you get called for an interview, you won't surprise them with the info.

      Good luck!

    • get a lawyer to seal it from the public then u wont have to say u had a felony because it wont even show on your background anymore

    • Felony convictions follow you forever. You're toast.

Job Interview Questions: What's the most likely chances I'll get to reschedule this job interview?

I have a job interview today at an animal shelter, but I think I'm going to have to call in to reschedule (if they let me) cause I have mandatory dance practice the same time my interview starts. My dance teacher told us if anyone misses this practice, they will be ask to leave permanently and not return.

Job Interview - 4 Ways to See Yourself as Job Interviewers Do

    • Sorry, but if I was an employer there is no way I'd even considering employing someone who prioritises dance practice over work. To ask to reschedule this for this reason is unprofessional and shows a lack of commitment.
I understand why you want to reschedule it but in all honesty you're going to have to decide how much you want the job, and which of the two means more to you. Because virtually no employer will employ someone who phones up and says "can we reschedule the interview I knew I was having and knew it clashed with my dance practice but on the day of the interview I'm ringing it to change so I can go dancing instead" now are they?

Job Interview Questions: Should you send a thank-you letter after a job interview?

I had a job interview about two weeks ago and it went GREAT. However, I'm kind of worried because I am reading a book that says you must send a thank-you letter for the interview within 24 hours. It is too late for me to send it. However, I'm also reading a lot of comments where people say it is unnecessary and might even look like you are "sucking up."

    Thoughts?

Job Interview Skills - How to Deal With Unusual, Irrelevant Or Stupid Questions at Interviews

    • In the US - it is very common and proper ettiquite. Some would even go with an email, especially if you knew the hiring manager were to be traveling or it was more casual situation. With that being said usually if I got a job, or a second interview, my thank-you card hadn't even reached them before I got the call...So it might swing an opinion if someone is on the fence regarding your employment, but rarely be a "make or break" deal.

I've never heard of anyone to consider it to be "sucking up" - you just want it to be short. Some even throw a line or two in there as a mechanism to clarify any points they thought were unclear or they fell short on in the interview, but thats a whole different situation and a slippery slope.

I wouldn't send one at this point - I'm thinking if 2 weeks has passed w/out contact its not looking great - maybe go with an email.

    • You are sucking up, you are asking for a job!! Send a thank you note. Make it short and sweet.

the job market is more than competative today, and you have to give yourself the edge.

I can tell you that I do not appreciate when applicants call to thank me for the opportunity to interview. It is time consuming to take calls.

    • Not a bad idea actually. Its a sort of memory primer for them. Doesnt matter how long it has been. Just don't say thank you though.. say how much you enjoyed meeting whomeever.. and how interested you were on the ideas of whatever... its not sucking up, its called positive networking. And in this economic climate you need lots of it!

    • nah i wouldnt bother lol, well in the UK ive never even heard of it :D

    Job Interview Success

    Recommended Answer:
Yay! Here's the questions I've been asked and have asked myself....

    1) What experiences do you have related to this position?
    2) What experience and knowledge have you obtained? (study your resume before interview)
    3) Why are you applying for this position? (Either for advancement or to challenge your current skills in a new environment)
    4) Do you know anything about our company? (This is where you research the company and what they do, as well as what they expect their employees to do for their customers)
    5) What are your strengths and weaknesses? (make sure to give examples on how you are improving your weaknesses)
    6) Why are you leaving your current position? (Kind of like question #3 - make sure it is positive and don't say "because I hate my job / boss")

Spell check your resume, have a friend to take a look at it as a 'second eye'.
Practise in a mirror for eye contact.
This part may be silly but REVIEW your resume and remember what you had written on there. It would look a bit strange when they ask you question #2 and you just read the resume. I could have easily done that for you, but they want to hear it from YOU.
Though they may have a copy of your resume at hand, they may still ask you question #2.

Always make sure to notify the people you've put down as a reference so they will not be surprised by receiving a call from your potential boss.

    Practise on your hand shake.
    Firm handshake, smile, eye contact.
Dress at your best, NO torn jeans or worn out shirts!!!!! You want to impress them not make them think you're a gangsta okay? You can play gangsta at home LOL

Thank them for their time before leaving. It is also okay to ask questions as well, such as...
    1) How soon will I hear from you?
    2) What is your dress code?
    3) Does your company provide medical benefits?
And any other questions you may have on mind.

    Good luck!!!!
    :)
