Job Interview Questions: What are some do's and don'ts for a job interview?

I am nervous and the wrong answers come out of my mouth, am not polished and used to them and don't know the "right" and "wrong" things to say. Any tips?

Job Interviews - Six Blunders to Avoid

Recommended Answer:
DO: Do dress apropriatley, business casual. DO bring a resume, at least two copies. Be yourself, R.E.L.A.X!!!! i cant stress how important it is to RELAX.Remember, you are NOT there for an interrogation, there is really no right or wrong thing to say. Just dont use swear words. And dont degrade yourself infront of them like "Omg yeah I always put things off to last minute" thats a big no no
DONT: Dont fidget. Dont arrive late. Dont chew gum. Dont frown, but SMILE. Dont look nervous. Job interviews are nerve racking. its even more nerve racking when your sitting down worrying about it. Remember, breath, relax, and let the interviewer see the real you!

Some of the Toughest Job Interview Questions and Their Model Answers

  • DO: be polite, friendly, outgoing, dress nicely, seem interested, and don't get offended if the person says something you don't completely agree with.

DON'T: stick out your boobs and butt, make jokes, laugh out loud, burp or make icky noises, dress like a slob, have bad breath, look messy, talk with improper grammer, come un prepared, and common sense should tell you the rest.

    GOOD LUCK!
    ~Hope that helps~

  • 1. 10 seconds to sell or say so long - Unless your resume catches the interviewer's eye in 10 seconds it's over, you're done.

    2. Be on time - There is no excuse for it, none!

    3. Cell phone off - Obvious but easily forgotten

    4. Know the company, and why you want to work there - Google the company you're interviewing for.

    5. Bring resumes - It shows you're prepared and serious about getting the job.

    6. Bring a notepad - It's a very subtle thing that makes you stand out.

    7. Dress in a clean conservative manner - go into a job interview having showered and wearing clean clothes.

    8. Profiles to private - If you don't think interviewers Google you or look you up on Facebook or MySpace, you're crazy.

    9. Don't make jokes - A job interview isn't the place to test your material. Be friendly and outgoing, save the jokes.

    10. Don't babble - When answering a question, answer the question.

    11. Don't badmouth a boss - Bad mouthing a previous boss in a job interview is a huge negative.

    12. Don't flirt with the interviewer - Common sense but needs to be stated.

    13. Don't play with your face/hair - makes you look like you're lying or lacking confidence, both not good.

    14. Less is more Sometimes certain details of your life are better left unsaid.

    15. Have good eye contact - Staring at the floor, ceiling, or wall when speaking or listening makes you appear disinterested.

    16. Have goals - If you don't and you're asked, you appear un-ambitious, which leads an interviewer to think you'd be a lazy employee.

    17. Have accomplishments - Be prepared to talk about something that you're proud of accomplishing, whether professionally or personally (or a failure and what you learned from it).

    18. Have passion - Be able to express why you want to work in that field/industry.

    19. Ask Questions -Again, it reinforces your strong interest in the job.

    20. Send a thank you note - A hand written thank you note. It reinforces your interest in the job.

  • Before you arrive, you should know your resume inside out and practice answering the questions that recruiters usually ask. You must also relax, make eye contact, give brief but adequate responses and let the interviewer do most of the talking. I have written articles on business and getting a job. Here they are: www.helium.com/users/193560/show_articles

  • DO: Smile, annunciate, have fresh breath, keep good posture, have all necessary forms prepared and available.

DON'T: fuss w/any electronics/phones/ipods, chew gum, groom yourself, smoke, ramble, touch your face.

Job Interviewing Preparation: The Winning Approach!

  • Maybe something indirectly personal, if you know what I mean.
Like 'What is your favorite memory?' or 'Who is your hero?' or maybe even about past relationships or regrets. It might unleash things you didn't know about your character, like that people who left a mark on their life or those little experiences that make them who they are, whether is joyful or full of egoism. You know that little odd thing of the character that make us all readers fall in love with him/her.

  • Um, either I'm extremely tired, or seriously confused...

What questions exactly are you looking for? Do you mean character profile questions?

    Like:
    Hair color
    Eye color
    Age
    Gender
    Country
    State
    Town
    Likes
    Dislikes
    Social class
    etc....?

Job Interview Questions: Why in a job interview they tell you you'll hear back by a certain date, but never do?

I had an interview Wednesday and they told me I'd hear back by today (Friday) one way or the other. But I got nothing. This is the second time this happened. The first time I didn't get the job. Does this mean that I didn't get the job here too? I thought the interview went pretty well, but there was only 1 job available for 6+ candidates. The job is for an internship at my college.

High Paying Job Interview Tips

Recommended Answer:
When I was recently searching for jobs I got this A LOT. It's really frustrating. But you have to realize in this job market, recruiters are swamped with applicants. Although I find it fairly rude that they give you a date and don't follow their own statement, it is understandable to a point. Your best bet is to follow up yourself to see the status. Typically you'll find out you're not chosen but at least you tried.

Job Interview Tips

  • It's good business etiquette to for a potential employer to at least email candidates informing them that a position has been filled. Unfortunately, many companies fall short of this standard.

Occasionally, employers may weight to inform candidates in case their first pick does not work out. This way they can come back to their second choice without the employee knowing that they were the second pick.

I wouldn't take it too hard as it happens a lot.

    Good luck.

  • because the people at these jobs do not have the balls to tell you to your face they already know you will not get the job. I have the same problem.

  • It does not sound promising but I would send them a Thank You Note highlighting what you liked about the interview and reminding them of your skills.

Job Interview Questions: Did I make a fatal goof in job interview?

Well, I feel like a total doofus :(
Feel free to agree with me.
I went for a job interview for Dunkin Donuts. When asked "what is your weakest point" I wasn't ready for that. Should say something like, "I'm a perfectionist" etc, that sounds okay. Instead I said, well math isn't my strong point. Face palm. I wish wish wish I had not said that. Strong point, I said reliability and flexibility, happy to work extra hours on short notice.

How to Amaze With an Impressive Answer to Job Interview Questions

  • I wouldnt worry. They might not put you in charge of the cash register now....but maybe they will just watch you to see how you do before trusting you with it.

  • Wrong. "Perfectionist" is the worst thing you could say. "Bad at math" isn't great but it's a lot better.

Job Interview Questions: Has anyone had a job interview for Eligibility Worker?

I have a job interview soon for eligibility worker with San Bernardino County, I was wondering what types of questions they ask or if anyone have any links that can help me I would really appreciate it.

Job Interview Questions and Answers

Recommended Answer:
I did back in September...It was for the San Bernardino office. I have an upcoming interview with the Ontario office.

The SB office interviewers asked three questions: (1) how would you handle/deal with a coworker that you didn't like (2) what was the most difficult thing you had to do at work and how did you handle it and what was the outcome (think along the lines of dilemma) (3) and something about customer service - can't remember exactly what the question was though sorry.

I don't know if they always use the same questions or the same topics or not. But before my first interview I figured they would touch on customer service, interpersonal skills, making difficult decisions, and attention to detail. So that's what I studied and I was right for the most part.

I don't know of any websites in particular. I would advise to search those subjects mentioned.
