Job Interview Questions: This is a job interview etiquette question...?

If you worked for a company, and performed illegal actives per their order. Would this be something to mention or even boast about at a job interview?

Tips For Job Interviews - Common Job Interview Questions and Answers

Recommended Answer:
No, dont mention it and dont brag about it....
There is a common interview question that I personally have encountered twice. The question is: "would you bribe someone to get your word done if that was beneficial to the company?", and the right answer to that question is "No"

Personally, I beleive that any success that is not based on principles is just temporarily and will fade away eventually. An employer would never want to hire an unprincipled employee as well, because he will never know when he will turn against him.

Good luck in your interview.

Job Interview - Best Prep Questions

  • Did you get caught performing these illegal activities? If you didn't I would suggest you don't bring it up in a job interview. Companies don't want to hire someone who performs illegal activities, regardless if the activities were your idea or not.

  • This is an interesting question and I'd love to know your motivation for asking it. Obviously, no - it is bad etiquette, and not very smart because it is not only self incriminating but reflects badly on the person's character. Either the person has a skewed view of what employers want and misguided sense of right and wrong - or for some reason they think they are interviewing with a company that expects them to perform such activities.

If I were interviewing this person, they certainly would not get the job.

I'm 18 years old and i have an interview on monday and its my first interview ever. I'm kind of nervous and i was wondering what kind of questions do they ask you and is it fun and easy to work there?

The 7 Most Common Job Interview Questions

Recommended Answer:
work can range from easy to hard depending on your abilities and the task they want you to do.

It can also range from very tolerable to down right shitty depending on your managers and coworkers.

When I have an asshole manager, work sucks terribly. When I have a nice manager, work is tolerable.

However during the rush times it can get hectic and tempers may flare.

Weird Job Interview Tips: 2009 Psychology Study Reveals Truth Behind First Impressions

  • They won't call you for an interview if they already know that they don't want to hire you. For instance, you didn't do well on the pre-screen questions, you're availability isn't what they are hiring for, etc. However, just because they call you doesn't mean they will hire you either. It just means on paper you looked good. However, how you show up for the interview is the most important part. Show up clean, and dressed nicely (nothing too fancy, but not just jeans either...Khakis and a nice shirt would be fine)...Make sure you are on time, and smiling. Take off extra jewelry, and keep your hair simple and clean. Be friendly! Answer all the questions as honestly as you can, don't just give them the answers they want to hear. Couple of things you might want to say, are that you are willing to learn new things, you want to learn to do both grill and counter, you love working with people as part of a team, you like interacting with people (customers), you are a quick learner, you are looking for steady employment (aka you want hours and you plan on being there for a while), you have a flexible availability (you can work lots of different shifts), you take pride in showing up as scheduled and can take extra shifts sometimes and you are professional (you will show up clean and neat for work with a good attitude)...Good luck :)

Job Interview Questions: Does withholding information about deafness during job interview mean I am being dishonest?

I am late deafened and have been having issues finding employment since becoming deaf. I never had issues before being deaf. I made sure to inform all potential employers beforehand in which I received no interviews. I now withhold the information about my deafness and I am getting tons of interviews. My plan is to provide information about my deafness after receiving job offers so that I can have a fair chance. I'm kind of at a crossroad as to how to go about this.

Useful Tips in Handling Job Interviews

    Recommended Answer:
There is absolutely no need to disclose beforehand, since like in the past had trouble getting your foot in the door for an interview. The hardest part is getting the interview to sell yourself in person.

But at the interview, you should disclose it, since now you are in person and could state that per your interview you were able to understand and comprehend the qualifications that is required for this particular job and since you are getting a lot of interviews now, appears that you might have something "special".

But as you stated in a prior question, you were offered a job and only disclosed this after the offer was made, which might put some employers "uneasy" not because of possible special circumstances, but if you did not disclose this, what else have you not disclosed?

There maybe some employers out there that even if you "wow" them in the interview and tell them might be scared off, but to tell them that you wanted to prove to them that your deafness will not affect your job performance, only that you might need a little help.

    good luck

Questions to Ask During a Job Interview - Make Sure You Cover These!

    • I am not certain where you live, but as someone who hired people for many years AND has a disability myself, I know that you may be violating the law in the U.S. You should be provided with a job description for any job for which you apply here. The job description should list any *essential functions* of the job. If hearing is NOT listed as an essential function, yet it seems to be an essential function when you read the rest of the job description, I feel that it is then your job to ask if it is an essential function. At the interview, legally (unless the company's funding requires they hire people with disabilities, such as at Centers for Independent Living), they are only allowed to ask whether you "can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation." I don't know if you can get through the interview without accommodation, or what field you are looking for work in, but hearing is a pretty significant skill in most jobs. I think you have to disclose it.

    • It is a toss up.
Employers are required by federal law to provide any equipment necessary for an employee to do a job.
Being deaf, someone will have to tell you when the work buzzer goes off to start work, take breaks and go home as well as any alarms (storm, fire).
I do not think you have to disclose the fact that you are deaf before the interview.

    • If your deafness is not obvious to the interviewers, I see no reason to disclose it. That's not illegal.

I suppose under the odd circumstance that they actually ASKED you if you are deaf, and you said "No", that might be illegal. Otherwise, what information you provide at the interview is completely within your control.

    • yes

Job Interview Questions: Is it bad if a job interview only last 7 minutes?

Just had an inteview at Family Video. It lasted 7 minutes and he said he would call to let me know if "we're going to go any farther". (you have to pass a test after your interview and before you get the job, but he didn't say he was gonna have me take the test). Should i mail in a follow up letter?

    Recommended Answer:
If it lasted only 7 mins...not positive but don't think its a good thing. If u have an email address or the mailing address send them a thank you note and list in 1-2 lines why u think ur the best fit for the job. Keep the letter short sweet simple and to the point.
    Good luck

    • Yes, it doesn't seem the good sign that they didn't talk about the test. However, what you can do is now send them the email and informing them all the situations that you were interviewed there, now what about the test?

    • It can't hurt to follow up, but a 7 minute interview is pretty short. Not a good sign.

    • Yes they dont want u ... sorry keep looking

Job Interview Questions: What to wear to a job interview at a fast food restaurant?

So I've been job-searching and in case I get an interview, what should I wear? My dad says just clean clothes (t shirt and blue jeans) would be just fine, but I thought it'd be a LITTLE more formal than that.

    Job Interview Questions and Answers

    Recommended Answer:
    No jeans, No t-shirt

wear slacks and a button down shirt with a collar, and shoes

Discover Job Interview Preparation Tips That Will Make Your Upcoming Interview a Breeze!

    • Dress nicely. Slacks and a cute blouse (woman) or a nice, pressed polo for a boy. Fast food is casual in and of itself, so it would not be inappropriate attire. You could wear jeans, but they would need to be pressed, not "worn" and paired with a nicer polo. No matter the job, its important to look nice, not slovenly - anything otherwise would indicate you are not serious about the interview/position and your own appearance.

I agree with the other poster about formal attire - only ANYwhere else... fine dining, etc. Fast food probably does not expect a suit and tie or dress with pantyhose.

The advice that has always been given to me was "think about the company/establishment and dress at least one degree more formal than the workers wear"... if you go into IT and everyone is wearing polos, show up in a button-down... if they are wearing button-downs, so up in a tie... ties - then wear a suit.

    • Over dress for a fast food job makes you look desperate for the job. I say wear a button up shirt with black or dark blue jeans. I did this and got hired when I was a teenager. I moved up to mangement later on too and got to interview people and we always used to laugh at the ones that would overly dress. One time someone came in a tux and didnt get hired but not because of the tux, they were too picky about scheduling and wanted off certain days and the store manager only wanted people that would be available aanytime/any day.

    • Keep it casual but not sloppy or slutty. For guys, wear a nice t-shirt or casual button-up, with khakis and some nice shoes. If they're not running shoes it would help, but as long as they're in good condition and not to bright or 'loud' they should be fine. For girls, wear a longer, conservative skirt or nice pants, they don't have to be dress pants but it couldn't hurt. A nice blouse in a not too bright colour or a nice looking t-shirt is also acceptable.

    • always wear nice slacks and button down shirts (tie is a plus) no matter what the job is. i've interviewed with nice clothes and always got hired. i've seen other interviewees who wore the same clothes your dad mentioned and i've never seen them get the job in my experience.

    • Just take a look at what the restaurant manager is wearing in that chain of restaurants. Go to the interview wearing the next more formal attire. It's better to be *a bit* overdressed than underdressed.

Edit. Added emphasis around the "a bit"

With what you wear, if you can, get something from their shop, to show you're interested in their products (if possible though).
Group interviews see how well you do working in a team environment, so always get involved with what's going on. They generally do group scenario type stuff.

Job Interview Questions: Should i wear tights to a job interview?

Im going to a job interview in a few days. i have not been to interviews since i left my previous employer a couple of days ago so i have no idea what to wear. is it okay to wear tights to a job interview with boots?

      Know Your Job Interview Skills

      Recommended Answer:
Depends on presentation of the entire look, and also the kind of industry you are interviewing for. It's hard to say without taking a look at the entire outfit and knowing more. But, on the whole, I would say to skip it and go with a jacket and skirt/trouser look. Skirt (I would say no more than an inch or two above knee) would be more formal than the trouser. You could for blues or grays. Black would be the most formal. You can also go for other styles and colors. If you are going to a store, you can ask the salesperson and they will definitely help you out.

Ways to Hugely Boost Your Job Interview Success Rate

      • What I've always been told is to dress two steps above your potential occupation.

If the job is quite casual, then casual is okay, but dress two steps above casual. This could mean if the typical work environment wears jeans and a T-Shirt, this means you could wear Jeans and a very nice button up shirt, and maybe a tie. (if you're a man of Avril Lavine, or Dianne Keaton),

For women, remember, light makeup, hair neat, remember to keep the jewelry to a minimum. A watch is considered a piece of jewelry, ear-rings, eye glasses, necklace. Anything that can be used as an embellishment is almost always considered a piece of jewlery. Do not use heavy perfume. You want something clean cut, yet professional.

I would not wear tights. I don't care if you are Cindy Crawford, they are not very flattering.

      • Probably not, unless you're in the fashion, dance, ballet, etc. industry. But if it's for a retail, sales, office, or a business sort of job then your best bet is slacks, skirt, button shirt, fancy blouse, and dress shoes. Boots are okay if the pants cover them up with the slacks or pants.

      • lol. who wears tights with boots anymore? it's not the 80's. no, i would stick with nylons and i would not wear boots to an interview unless it's at a place like mcdonalds or something non professional.

      • No it's not. Don't give them an opportunity to dismiss you out of hand. Dress conservatively, don't show too much skin, and keep the body art to a minimum. A skirt and blouse is always acceptable.

      • I would definitely dress conservatively such as dress slacks and a nice top that does not show too much cleavage. It is better to be a little overdressed than not professional enough.

      • I can't see why you shouldn't or couldn't wear this, but then again I'm a bloke what colour are the tights? Maybe try heels or flats?

      • you will look more professional wearing them
