This is my first interview ever and its at Target. Ive only had one job and it only lasted 2 months in 2009. I have no costumer service experience at all. I don't know what to bring or say besides "I know I can do the job". How long do interviews last?

Don't stay up too late and get some breakfast tomorrow (does not have to be a huge meal, but don't go on an empty stomach). You didn't tell us what kind of job you are applying for.

Dress appropriately. If you are a guy, wear a suit. If you don't have a suit, wear a shirt and tie. If you are a woman, wear a woman's suit (like a guy's suit but with a matching skirt instead of pants). If you don't have a suit, wear a dress. You can also wear a fancy blouse and a skirt (not too short). Do not wear jeans or work out clothes. Don't overdo the perfume/cologne.

You cannot memorize answers because you don't know what they are going to ask.

They are likely to ask about any previous work experience and also why you left your previous job. They will also ask you what you have been doing between 2009-2011. They might ask you what your eventual career goal is. Other questions: what do you do for fun? How would you handle this situation (a customer comes in and complains that the tv he bought doesn't work. He then starts yelling that it's junk and why does the store sell junk?).

I cannot tell you what to say bc there are so many questions they can ask you. But hopefully these examples might give you food for thought. How long do interviews last? Anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour.

  • Dress nice but casual, they wear khakis and polo's at Target so wear something like slacks or a nice pair of jeans and a polo or button down shirt.

interviewss last 5-10 minutes, if they offer you a drink say no thank you, you're not going to be there long enough to drink it.

Don't chew gum, don't go in smelling like smoke.

Be nice, smile, sit up straight and give a firm handshake.

Speak clearly and confidently and don't use a lot of slang.

If they ask why you want the job, don't say you need it, say something like Target is a place you shop at, you're familiar with the products and you think you'd do well there.

If they ask why you weren't at your last job long think of something diplomatic to say, don't talk smack about your previous employer, but don'y say anything that would reflect badly on you.

My favorite excuse for having left my previous employer was always I needed to care for a sick relative (lol)

  • Just be calm and truthful relax and breath. Tell them you wi try your hardest because that's All they can ask for from you
