If the interview was obtained through the Unemployment Office, then yes ... the interviewing company will report you as a no-show.

Actually that is grounds for you to lose your unemployment benefits. You need to contact your Unemployment case worker and let them know what your situation. From there, the case working will call the interviewing company that you can't make it. Just make sure you call or talk to in person your unemployment case worker.

You usually only get one chance to miss any interview so your excuse better be a good one. Unemployment case workers don't play and will cut your unemployment if you miss an interview for any reason.

Job Interview Preparation

  • If you reschedule there won't be an issue even if the company says "no thank you" you can honestly tell the unemployment office that you tried. The worst part is doing nothing and the unemployment office asks where you have tried to get a job. You then cannot use that business as a referral b/c the unemployment office might call them to check if you really applied there.

  • You should probably just talk to the unemployment people and let them know the situation. I don't believe that the company would report it, but if they do, you dont want to risk it!
