Job Interview Questions: After a job interview can you email a thank you letter?

I have a job interview today and if they do not offer the position right away I want to send a thank you letter to him/her as soon as possible, can I sent it as an email instead of by regular mail?

Recommended Answer:
Absolutely! But be sure to follow up with a hand written thank you note as well.

Our class was given a tour of a hospital's HIM department last semester. Immediately afterward, I sent the director a thank you email. Then I mailed a simple handwritten thank you card to her. She didn't save the email, but she did save the card. Months later, there's a job opening there. Guess who got the job? Yours truly. She remembered me, and she has the thank you card on a bulletin board in her office!

  • You can send an informal e-mail message straight after the job interview and then follow it up with a more formal thank you letter in the post. Find an example of an email thank you letter at the page below.

  • Sure, but the hard copy letter seems to hold more class wouldnt you say?
