The Essential Job Interview Checklist
Recommended Answer:
Everyone's been in situations where they had to go on interviews, but I've had supervisory positions in the past where I had to interview potential employees. Those that showed up neat and clean were taken more seriously than those that showed up in dirty t-shirts and booty shorts.
I think wearing something from the store is an excellent idea. If you can find something that is particularly flattering on you, this can definitely work in your favor since as an employee you will be representing the store. Often customers when they spot a particularly cute outfit on a clerk will even ask if the clerk bought it at that store. How cool would it be to be able to say, "Yes, I did. And it comes in all these colors!" Since this is an interview, you do want to be dressier than usual. It tells the potential employer that you are professional and take the interview (and work) seriously. Make sure your hair and skin are well groomed, but don't wear a lot of scent since so many people are sensitive to perfumes. Any jewelry you choose can be young and trendy, but make sure you limit it to a couple of pieces that aren't so distracting that the interviewer can't concentrate on your personality because the bling is blinding them. Once you are hired, you can dress according to company policy and practices. Often you can be more casual, but go for dressy when you interview.
