Job Interview Questions: How can I find a salary range for a position within a company prior to job interview?

Any suggestions on how I can find salary range for a specific position within a specific company prior to a job interview? I dont want to call and ask HR office at this stage and have had two phone interviews and never have they stated salary range nor asked my current salary. Any websites that might be able to help find this info? Other suggestions?

HR is who you are going to have to ask to get the real information. If you know someone that has a like position you could ask them.

It is a good idea to know a range, but let me caution you..DO NOT bring up salary in the interview. If they bring it up, DO NOT give them a number or reveal your past salary. Instead, say, "At this point in the interview process, I really would like to be considered for the position based on my skills and qualifications. I am confident that we can come to a mutual agreement on a figure when the time comes."

When you get an offer, that might be the appropriate time to bring up the range, but ALWAYS, let them go first. The first person to float a number loses the upper hand. You need to retain the upper hand.

    Good luck!

  • Don't be shy to call the HR and inquire about the salary range for it is your right to do so and their job to enlighten you. It would take little time and effort to do this, as compared to browsing the web for an accurate estimate.
