Job Interview Questions: Tips for relaxing during a job interview?

I have an interview for a job that I really want at 4 today.

But during interviews I always get noticeably nervous, any tips for relaxing?

9 Steps to Job Interview Success

Recommended Answer:
It is important to like and know enough about the company you are interviewing with. After researching, take note of what is very similar to your background and beliefs. For example, if you like that the company has a youth outreach program and you volunteered or participated with one; if the company is a Green company that finds ways to not pollute the environment by recycling and you are doing things yourself to better preserve the land; or they are affilliated with a charity that you support. This enables you to have connection that you can utilize during the interview because you are referencing what you already are at ease with. Everyone is a bit nervous at times, but try to present yourself in a calm not too relaxed manner. Think about your answers to questions before just blurting anything out. Arrive there about fifteen minutes beforehand, greet the receptionist with a friendly, confident and positive manner and take a seat to begin relaxing. As long as you made some preparation, your objective is to go have a friendly (but professional) talk with someone who may just offer you a job! Good Luck!

Succeeding in a Job Interview

  • Just remember that you're having a conversation with another person. The same as you would at the grocery store, at a concert, or a barbeque.

Don't focus on getting the job. Focus on making a friend and learning more about a company.

And, remember, it's okay to be nervous. When I interviewed candidates, I expected them to be nervous.

Take a deep breath and relax. You'll be okay whether you get the job or not. Afterall, if you don't get this one, there may be a better one waiting for you.

  • I do too. Everyone else will probably say to drink or smoke before you go. You could do that but they might smell it. I would say just remember they are a human. I mean think of your past bosses. They are just normal people doing their job. Just breathe and you will do great.

  • I totally disagree with the girl who said everyone would say drink or smoke.. who the hell says that? Idiots? Just try to breathe and remember they will expect you to be nervous. Maybe go for a brisk walk or something today to get yourself prepped. Good luck!
