Job Interview Questions: Had job interview and they didn't ask for references?

I just had a job interview which I felt went really well except.. they did not ask me to provide any references. Does this mean forget it?

Did you fill out a usual employment form with all your info on it? If they didn't give you a form ( which would have included references) to fill out...I would say forget it.
